Walk In Bathtub Prices

Walk In Bathtub Costs

Walk In Bathtubs come in a variety of sizes, shapes, options and prices.  Before you buy, you should definitely do your research, and figure out what you are really looking for.  Companies that offer a walk in bathtub online for $3000 or less with a jetting system, are usually just importing their tubs from china, and then sending it directly to your door with out any testing or checking on the tub.  We do not recommend buying a tub like this, as many of these companies don’t hold up their warranties, and you are usually getting an inferior product.

By the same means, a company charging $12,000 for a Walk In Tub is usually a national company, who is charging you an outrageous amount because they have to cover a traveling salesman, a high marketing budget, and a large staff.  These companies use a high pressure salesman, and usually try to present for over 2 hours to get you to sign that day.  We have spoken with many of the people who have met with these companies, and they felt they were being pushed into the wrong tub, and nothing was really described to them.  These companies usually make you put down a large percentage up front by check, and then will not give you the deposit back no matter what happens.  Beware of these companies!

The right price range for a walk in bathtub installed is between $7000-$10,000 depending on options, the tub and the installation.  Bathe Safe walk in bathtubs prides itself on having the largest variety of walk in bathtubs, while maintaining the highest quality products and customer service in the field.  For the price range listed, you can usually get a jetted walk in bathtub installed, which includes a new surround if needed, a door removed and put back on (even replaced if required), and all finishing work to be done.  Bathe Safe installers have been doing these installs for many years and have installed thousands of tubs.

Call Bathe Safe Today for a free in Home Estimate, with a non-aggressive salesman who can even bring you a tub to sit in and feel, so you know exactly what you are getting.  Call any other company and see if they will do that for you!

Walk in Bathtub Donated To Honey House on Long Island

Walk in Bathtub Donated To Honey House on Long Island

Bathe Safe Walk in Bathtubs donated a tub to the honey house to help a child in need!  The child, Brian, could not bathe in a traditional tub due to his Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa. Bathe Safe provided him with a great new walk in bathtub, that will help him to bathe and help the nurses get him in and out of the tub. Here is some of the story on the Honey House.

Eight year old Brian Ilg of Patchogue was born with Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa, a debilitating skin disorder. Described as “the worst disease you’ve NEVER heard of,” the continuous blistering caused by this condition is disfiguring and painful; any kind of friction causes wounds to develop. Brian’s care entails a daily, three hour-long dressing change of the bandages that protect his skin from injury and treat the wounds that affect 60% of his body.

We are building a portable medical treatment unit for Brian–a little house on wheels, with dedicated space for his medical care, separate from his family’s living area, which will reduce the spread of infection. The house will have a walk-in whirlpool bathtub in which Brian can submerge himself to clean and gently debride his wounds, which will reduce his bath-time pain by 50%– there’s no drug we could give him that would provide that much pain relief; it’s a safe, effective, non-narcotic solution to the every day agony caused by bathing . Another advantage to this little house is the fact that it’s on wheels–it can go wherever Brian goes! The house is being built on a 20′ long, 8′ wide double axle trailer.

This project is entirely nurse-driven–we’ve had a lot of time to assess this patient and his needs. Most of the funds we’ve raised have come from nurses and even our builder, Robert Moore, is on the job because of a nurse–he received a kidney from a nurse 13 years ago, after 4 years on dialysis, and now he’s paying it forward by building this house.

The trailer was $4400.00, the windows and doors, $3600.00 and the walk-in bathtub is almost $6000.00. The house requires a heating and cooling system; when Brian is wrapped in his bandages, it’s as if he were in a winter coat, and he needs a cooler environment. When he’s unwrapped, he’s at risk for hypothermia, and needs a wamer climate. We want to provide a generator so that the facility can be used off-grid and in case of power outages. We’d like to wire the house for internet access and provide Brian with an entertainment console–a flat screen TV on an articulating wall mount so Brian can watch while soaking in the tub or while dressings are being applied. He’d love an xbox! We’re selling candy bars and holding bake sales and open mics but we need your help.

Where Seniors Fall

Where Seniors Fall

  • 55% of all falls take place inside the home.
  • More than three-quarters take place either inside or in close proximity to the home, where a medical alert system can be of immediate assistance.
  • More fall injuries are caused by falls on the same level (vs. stairs) and from a standing highlight, i.e. tripping while walking.

Where Seniors Fall

How Often Falls Occur

How Often Falls Occur

  • About one third of the elder population over the age of 65 falls each year, and the risk of falls increases proportionately with age. At 80 years, over half of seniors fall annually.
  • As alarming as they are, these documented statistics fall short of the actual number since
many incidents are unreported by seniors and unrecognized by family members or caregivers.
  • Frequent falling. Those who fall are two to three times more likely to fall again.
  • About half (53%) of the older adults who are discharged for fall-related hip fractures will experience another fall with in six months.

What Happens After a Fall

  • Falls are the leading cause of death due to injury among the elderly 87% of all fractures in the elderly are due to falls.
  • Falls account for 25% of all hospital admissions, and 40% of all nursing home admissions 40% of those admitted do not return to independent living; 25% die within a year.
  • Many falls do not result in injuries, yet a large percentage of non-injured fallers (47%) cannot get up without assistance.
  • For the elderly who fall and are unable to get up on their own, the period of time spent immobile often affects their health outcome. Muscle cell breakdown starts to occur within 30-60 minutes of compression due to falling. Dehydration, pressure sores, hypothermia, and pneumonia are other complications that may result.
  • Getting help after an immobilizing fall improves the chance of survival by 80% and increases the likelihood of a return to independent living.
  • Up to 40% of people who have a stroke have a serious fall within the next year.

Falls and Fall Prevention

Who is at risk?

Fall-related Deaths

  • The death rates from falls among older men and women have risen sharply over the past decade.3
  • In 2010, about 21,700 older adults died from unintentional fall injuries.3
  • Men are more likely than women to die from a fall. After taking age into account, the fall death rate in 2010 was 40% higher for men than for women.3
  • Older whites are 2.4 times more likely to die from falls as their black counterparts.3
  • Rates also differ by ethnicity. Older non-Hispanics have higher fatal fall rates than Hispanics.12

Fall Injuries

  • People age 75 and older who fall are four to five times more likely than those age 65 to 74 to be admitted to a long-term care facility for a year or longer.13
  • Rates of fall-related fractures among older women are more than twice those for men.14
  • Over 95% of hip fractures are caused by falls.15 In 2010, there were 258,000 hip fractures and the rate for women was almost twice the rate for men.17
  • White women have significantly higher hip fracture rates than black women.17

How can older adults prevent falls?

Photo: adults exercising

Older adults can stay independent and reduce their chances of falling.18,19 They can:

  • Exercise regularly. It is important that the exercises focus on increasing leg strength and improving balance, and that they get more challenging over time. Tai Chi programs are especially good.
  • Ask their doctor or pharmacist to review their medicines—both prescription and over-the counter—to identify medicines that may cause side effects or interactions such as dizziness or drowsiness.
  • Have their eyes checked by an eye doctor at least once a year and update their eyeglasses to maximize their vision.  Consider getting a pair with single vision distance lenses for some activities such as walking outside.
  • Make their homes safer by reducing tripping hazards, adding grab bars inside and outside the tub or shower and next to the toilet, adding railings on both sides of stairways, and improving the lighting in their homes.

To lower their hip fracture risk, older adults can:

  • Get adequate calcium and vitamin D—from food and/or from supplements.
  • Do weight bearing exercise.
  • Get screened and, if needed, treated for osteoporosis.
